New construction refers to site preparation for, and construction of, an entirely new structures and/or significant extensions to existing structures whether or not the site was previously occupied.

Shell construction is the shell of a building as the main component that separates the interior space of the structure from its exterior and surrounding areas. The shell can have numerous features, most commonly the foundation, roofing, doors, windows, and footers.

Remodeling is renovating a space to make improvements on an existing building or home. However, construction involving renovation often refers to “restoring” or “repairing” an existing structure, by replacing the old with the new.

Home addition is adding onto an existing building. For example, another bedroom, or a living room, etc. these projects generally require demolition, but not as much as a remodel. For additions you need an architect, contractor, and a building permit to proceed.
